RMAN-06059: expected archived log not found, lost of archived log compromises recoverability

Solution

Due to the control file keeping the rman record for the missing archived redo log, we are unable to do a backup even though there is no loss of data.

RMAN> change archivelog all crosscheck;

This command will check though all the recorded archivelogs and update their status in the control file and thus allowing the backup to be completed normally in subsequent backup operations.

Creating  Swap File

Create a swap file in a partition with available free space.

Format: mkfile nnn[m|k|b] <filename>

eg. # mkfile 100m /export/system/swapfile1

Adding Swap File

Adding the swap file to the system virtual swap space.

format : swap -a <filename>

eg. #swap -a /export/system/swapfile1

Adding Swap Slice

Adding a swap slice instead of a swap file to the virtual swap space.

format : swap -a <partition>

eg. #swap -a /dev/dsk/c1t0d0s1

Remove Swap File/Slice

Deleting a swap file or slice from the system virtual swap space.

format: swap -d <filename>

swap -d <partition>

eg. swap -d /export/system/swapfile1

swap -d /dev/dsk/c1t0d0s1
